It is definitely cooler than an average fan; I love it, it is truly an amazing portable cooling device. I believe I could even use this to cool fish tanks that get too hot in today’s rising temps.

The design and workmanship of this product is way beyond dreadful, and the pricing is criminal. I purchase this blue one on Amazon back in July.

My only complaint is that to order additional sponges for the cooler a package of two that is offered is $9.95 and the shipping is as expensive – doubling the price of the replacements. I bought this product in October for a Christmas present.

Only minor glitch is that the USB cable is too short! I bought a new one from Radio Shack and it’s 4 feet long. I bought this mini air conditioner for my office. The most important point was that it ran on USB so I could plug it on my computer and set it aside without worrying about batteries. This is exactly like a misting fan, except there is no mist! Instead of spraying out water droplets to cool the air, the handy cooler fan has a wet cooling pad that is like a sponge.

Cools you down and I love the concept of how it has a USB jack so that I can plug it into my laptop which makes it convenient. Pricewise it’s more expensive than the other fans available and if cost conscious I’d probably go for the basic fans that always aren’t as good, are half the price. You can carry it around with you but when you wish to do things like cook in the kitchen or work on the computer, you can set it on a table in front of you and it will cool not only yourself but the air around you without the device falling all over the place. When the weather becomes REALLY hot (I am talking about 90+ degrees) I agree that this product will get replaced by the air-con that can cool the rest of the family and the house as well, however this product is fantastic as a self-cooler. You will, no lie, get about an hour’s use out of 4 AA batteries before the machine is pooched. Worse, we hadn’t use the Handy Coolers for much more than maybe 6 or 8 hours total before both of them conked on us completely. Outside in 100 degree heat, it doesn’t make much of a dent if not right AT your face, but on a beach vacation, or at a sporting event it’s perfect to hold and keep you much cooler. Just bring the little bottle for refills! We’re amazed by the punch it packs given the small size. Just be better if it came with batteries too. The fan noise level is acceptable. It is far from silent, but is quiet enough that it doesn’t interfere. I enjoy the fact that I can be cooled down at work and bring the device with me when I step out into the heat, whereas everybody else has to leave their fans on their desk. I can connect it to my laptop so I don’t have to worry about the battery running out before work ends and my staff mates are constantly asking me where I got it from. I would like to personally thank the makers of Handy Cooler for making life so much more comfortable! Handy Cooler cools the air for real, not exactly at the level of an actual air conditioner, but much more than any mini-fan.

It works as advertised. I am surprised and delighted to say that this gadget works very well. This is not much of an air conditioner, but it’s a great product when the temperature gets into the 90s. I was recommended by a friend when her husband got one for work (he’s a construction worker) and had good things to say about.

I am always travelling and driving to hot places and it gets very uncomfortable sometimes, so my friend lent me his handy cooler and it has made all the difference in the world! I bought my own last week and I’m glad I did. My symptoms have not progressed, but if they do I will begin HRT. I’m not going to go into the risks here.

I think I’ll have to buy a second one for the next trip. If you need something more than just a fan that blows hot air, this is a good choice, and it cools the air down by a wet cooling filter. I bought this for its battery operated portability and it started out working well but after only a few uses it stopped working matter how new the batteries were. So happy with this cooler!

Hope it helps, When you live in Arizona, you feel that the heat is relentless in the summer, the heat makes you want to strangle yourself! So obviously when I got the handy cooler as a present I assumed that it wouldn’t really bring me any relief, but it surprising impressed me.

I saw some bad reviews about this so I was skeptical about investing $40 into something that probably might not work. Amazon provides a 30 day guarantee, so I thought to give it a try nevertheless. The hand strap is surprising very comfortable being made of leather. It’s easy to carry around and the batteries last for a whole day if you turn it on sparingly. The whirring noise level isn’t bad but hardly discrete either. The $50 price is definitely too high for a product like this.

The “patent pending” sponge. It is just a cheap sponge. We had to go out of town unexpectedly last week and with temperatures in the high nineties, we thought it would be a great time to utilize this gift to ensure our daughter’s comfort. I tested it out the night before after charging it and it seemed to work great. The unit has a sponge-material filter (which you need to wet) and after turning it on, it pulls air through the filter, cooling the air down before blowing it at you. It’s a really cool concept. The guys who’ve seen it all want one, but nobody is going to steal something in pink. Honestly, I wish it were less expensive, but the build quality is solid enough that I think it’ll survive until I get back, and that’s really all that counts. But with the ingenious design that drags hot air through the wet cooling filter, it does a surprisingly good job. I bought the adaptor so I could plug it into the wall and this gives it even more power which is great.
